Kuldip Kumar told ( about Income Tax ) : “Considering the cuts in Corporate Tax rates in September 2019 by the Central government, there is a lot of expectation that the Modi government will reduce the rates for personal income taxpayers during Budget 2020 in order to put more money in the hands of the common man,” External link

Kuldip Kumar said ( about Income Tax ) : “This can be done in a number of ways. The easiest way is that the Modi government may tinker with the existing Income Tax slabs in Budget 2020. Right now there is no tax between Rs 0 to 2.5 lakh. Between 2.5 lakh to 5 lakh there is 5 per cent income tax rate, between 5 lakh to 10 lakh, there is a 20 per cent and more than 10 lakh there are 30 per cent income tax rates. I think up to the annual income of 5 lakh, the Modi government may introduce a slab where there will be no tax. Between Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh, it would be 10 per cent, between Rs 10 lakh to 20 lakh 20 per cent, and more than 20 lakh, it would be 30 per cent,” External link

Tarun Chugh said ( about Income Tax ) : “Collectively as an industry, we do see a lack of parity in the tax treatment of pension products of life insurance companies and pension products under National Pension Scheme (NPS). Both the products have similar objective of building long term savings for meeting retirement goals, hence, this disparity should be addressed by the government in the Union Budget 2020. Further, in order to enable customers to see life insurance beyond a tax saving tool and invest in it to fulfill their long term financials goals, the government should either consider a separate deduction section or enhance to limit under Section 80C of Income Tax Act, 1961, to Rs 3,00,000, since the current limit of INR 1,50,000 is too low to cater to all the contributions it covers,” External link

Nirmala Sitharaman said ( about Income Tax ) : "I have gone through this (Companies Act) with a comb. We are working to decriminalise companies and ensure that no other Acts including Income Tax Act and PMLA, have such provisions," External link
