Charles Banda said ( about Edgar Lungu ) : “We are implementing our campaign promises. President Edgar Lungu is saying we should deliver development to all parts of the country without leaving anyone behind. We have not left anyone behind in rural areas or in town, we want everyone to know that the PF government think about you even if you are in the village,” External link

Kennedy Kamba stated ( about Edgar Lungu ) : “We want to place it on record that despite being a Party in government, the PF has a strict disciplinary code that compels everyone to respect the rule of law as prescribed by the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia. President Edgar Lungu and the hierarchy of the Party and Government have emphasised on several occasions that we are all equal before the law and none of us should ever think they are above the law. Our position is that we respect the police and their works. Therefore, isolated individual cases involving some party members must be treated as such and the party’s name and integrity should not be dragged into individuals that come in conflict with the law. We are sensitive to the fact that we are a ruling party that must set a precedence and a good example of law abiding citizens,” “We are not above reproach and we will never be. That’s why we want the police to engage the party leadership if by any means, any of us who are members of the PF attempts to undermine or interfere with the works of the police. The misbehaviour of an individual perceived to be a member of the PF should not be considered as the position or general conduct of the PF. The law must take its course on such individuals. This, however, does not mean that the general membership of the Party and its leaders will not air their grievances when they feel mistreated or unfairly treated by the police. We have a right to respond and protest peacefully of any mistreatment or on any matters that affect us just like any other Zambian or organization. That is why we feel we must dialogue with the custodians of the law. The police now being a service and not a police force should not be brutal towards or against the citizenry” External link

Hakainde Hichilema stated ( about Edgar Lungu ) : “In the usual PF style, the seven-page long and rambling Ministerial Statement presented to Parliament is full of a flowery and deceiving language. First, contrary to the sugar coating in the statement, the 2020 revenue shortfall will be K17.2 billion, of which ZRA will miss its target of K53.9 billion, by a staggering K6.9 billion. Secondly, despite the shortfall in revenues, the PF will increase the 2020 expenditure by K9.7 billion. This simply means that in 2020 the financing gap or deficit in revenues will be K26.9 billion,” “Thirdly, in the usual PF method, the only constant in their governance style is continued policy inconsistencies and reversals. Less than a month ago on 25 June 2020, Mr. Edgar Lungu informed the nation that his Cabinet approved the issuance of a COVID 19 bond to stimulate the haemorrhaging economy. And that the beneficiaries were going to be; retirees and those on the separatees payroll; suppliers of goods and services; and small-medium enterprises (SME). But in a sudden U-turn, the Minister of Finance has unilaterally decided to reverse the decision of the Cabinet and allocate the funds raised on; the Covid-19 economic recovery fund; payment of civil servant loan deductions to microfinance institutions that government spent on other activities after deducting the said amounts from our hard-working public servants; drugs and equipment procurement; grain purchases; and other unknown areas” External link

And even here, there is even a plot to insult and humiliate me,” External link

The COVID-19 pandemic has not only decimated economies and exacerbated poverty but has also shown us how interconnected and interdependent our world is and how we must work together to respond effectively to the challenges that confront us today. Under these circumstances, an opportunity has manifested itself on the need to maximize our corporative advantages as well as share expertise, technologies, innovations and indigenous knowledge to be utilised for the betterment of our people’s livelihoods. Edgar Lungu said : “But I am glad that you found it in your heart to come and welcome me, I am very grateful. This is a surprise to me because I am aware of the COVID-19 regulations which restrict gatherings and also makes it difficult for people to gather in this manner. The reason why I came here is to simply see the effects of COVID-19 on the various sectors of the economy,” “As a government, we are spending so much money to fight COVID-19 and at the same time, our income generation has reduced tremendously. Because of this, the economy is almost shutting down in some areas and tourism is also an area which has been badly hit, the area of commerce and trade has generally been affected. The revenue coming in through the Zambia Revenue Authority through the Ministry of Finance has dwindled significantly. Pray for those in power and those in the opposition. If you want to advise those who are in political power, see them, talk to them and tell them that mwana, what you are doing is bad, stop it. Charles Banda said ( about Edgar Lungu ) : “We are implementing our campaign promises.
